So you want to play One Piece Battle.
Well.
Keep in mind that the game is graphics intensive. So crashes on on your android phone or iOS device is inevitable and may happen often even if it may be on the higher end of techonology. (I use an ipod touch gen 5 if that helps) Thankfully the game last remembers your battle in case of a crash...!
This game can only be played on a device that can play games region-locked to Japan Meaning that if you have a US based itunes account for example, you would not be able to download it from the US itunes store since they have not made available in the United States. There are methods of how to get around with here so if you think you can bypass it, then by all means go for it.
Now that that's settled, onto the fun part! Learning how to play.

When you first open up the game, Chopper will appear and begin to explain the gameplay. All in Japanese of course! If you have no idea of what he says because you have little to no language skills in Japanese , no fear! I'm here.

This is what your screen will look like. It contains your opponents hp, their companions, the "attack turn", as well as your stats and your scores!
Chopper will show you a "battleground" similar to this. The idea of this game is that you face off in a dance battle! (If it's not already obvious). You will have a default leader chosen (Chopper) as well as your nakama/companions who will support you in the battle as a team. (After the initial tutorial, you will be able to make up your own team)
How it goes is, your opponent goes first in dancing and all you have to do is follow exactly how your opponent does it through the beat buttons on the bottom. (So much like Monkey see, Monkey do, or Simon Says.)

The "beat" on the button means you touch them. The screenshot shows Zoro's beat and you would just follow it by tapping the button on your mobile device.

Picture is from the One Piece Wiki
But if there's something that is descending onto the button(so like a meter?) you hold onto it and release when it syncs again with the button.
According the One Piece Wiki, if you execute a streamed combo, the game speeds up and gives you something like "Tension Up!" Keep up with this speed and you'll get a higher score.
There are also more battle "beats" than these two but I'm only writing a basics tutorial so don't mind the simplicity!
I also want to mention a range of whether you did the beats correctly or not. It goes like this:
Perfect > Good > Bad > Miss
If you follow your opponent's dancing correctly, your companion's gauge begins to fill up (as well as yours). I'll explain the gauge a little further.
During turns: If your leader gauge is filled, press it as soon as possible, because it'll unleash your "special move". These special moves can range from an all out attack.. like Luffy's gomu-gomu attack, to something that heals your HP like Choppers.
Attack Turn: This stat is basically how many turns you have left in "dancing" before you unleash your "attack", Once this is up, you're given an opportunity to attack first. This is where the gauge of your companions are key to your attack. If any of your companions are filled, touch them and it'll highlight them as "ok" meaning you're including their combos in your final attack. If you hit enough onto your opponent, you win the battle!

This concludes my tutorial of basic gameplay. If you want translations of other parts of One Piece Battle, please refer to this blog! It's not complete yet but it has a chunk of the menus and stuff translated. (It just didn't include the basic "how to play" mechanic since lmfa I'm a loser for "how to play" and I have had to figure it out myself in order to understand the game myself so.
